HD-Erised 2016: Veterans and Newcomers
As I was looking over the anonymous masterlist for this year's
hd_erised fest, I was struck by how many veterans of the HD fandom were still creating fanworks for the fest, even as many newcomers are joining for the first time. I think this speaks to how popular HD fandom has been and still remains!
So everyone can see what I mean, I've organized this year's participants into a table sorted by the year they first published an HD fic or artwork, so far as I know*
*I tried really hard to get accurate data by stalking everyone's LJ and AO3 accounts, but I'm just one person and might have missed something, especially if your LJ is flocked or your early works were on a deleted archive somewhere. So if there are mistakes, just let me know and I'll fix them :)

I think you've missed me. I did Erised this year as a pinch hitter and published my first H/D in 2011. I think I did a couple of drabbles before this but I can't remember. It's absolutely horrible but here it is, LOL

I started putting this together weeks ago, grabbing the giftee's name off each fic, and going by the original sign-up posts too. And I told myself to go back and double-check for last minute changes and additions, and I even remember seeing your name on one of the last days and telling myself, "oh don't forget writcraft" AND I TOTALLY FORGOT WRITCRAFT.
Crap. Going back to fix right now!

In fact, when I first saw

So glad I could remind you of this drabble set! (I'm also glad that as far as you know, I didn't miss something written earlier ^^)
And the drabble is really good too ♥

This is so interesting! When I first posted that fic (and I now cringe thinking about how bad it is!), I never thought I'd be on a list with some of the people I'd been following myself!

It's a flaw in my database that while I have consistently made notes on when fics were begun, for ongoing WIPs, I haven't always noted when they were completed :( Bad researcher!
So it won't be easy for me to answer this question for sure, though I can't imagine there are too many other HD fics written over the course of 13 years!

And I wouldn't cringe too hard - no one's first fic is a masterpiece (unless you're JK Rowling, I guess!) It wasn't my intention to make anyone self-conscious - I'm honestly just really fascinated to see how long some people have been writing, and how broad a range of years/authors the

I'm just super curious what happened to the people who started in 2010. I know it's just a statistical quirk - there's no need to read anything deep into it - but seeing a gap always makes me wonder!

Other authors I think began in 2010 (but who didn't participate in the fest this year) include khasael, tigersilver, josephinestone, kjp_013, sara holmes, and 0idontknow0.
Also, if we consider

However, it seems like now the link doesn't work to the piece I had listed (did you delete it? I thought I had checked the links!) so I went ahead and replaced it with the one you remembered :)

But now it makes me want to change it so that you're listed in 2004, because I'm all about being consistent and as accurate as possible :)
Would that be OK with you, if I moved you to 2004?

It's funny, but in my head, I was sorta calling each group "The Class of such-and-such Year." Like, you'd be part of "The Class of 2012". But then I realized that didn't make sense, since that usually means the year you graduate, not the year you start! So then I didn't know what to call it. "Cohort," I guess? It doesn't have the same flare. But it is cool to see who else started around the same time :)

Just went on a walk down memory lane through an old photobucket account and found H/D stuff of mine from 2005. The old account I used to post on is thankfully long gone though. And actually, the icon I'm using now is from 2007, so there you go!

This is just me being a crazy archivist, so no worries if you don't have links, but I would love it if you did! ♥

I published stuff all over but I purge and delete old art archives on a regular basis, so I'm actually surprised I have stuff from as far back as 2008 still online.

And actually, the link I had for you from 2008 was a bit of a cheat (on my part) anyway- you had posted headers to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], but the link you provided there was to a forum at the Big Bang which has since gone bye-bye. So it really wasn't much of a working link - I like this new one much better!
And I noticed in my investigations that you're a purger and that makes my archivist's heart hurt a little bit, but it's certainly your stuff to do what you like with! So I really appreciate you sharing the art link you did ♥

I've deleted my entire presence from fandoms before; it's liberating. :)
My recent HP stuff will probably stay up though. Mostly cause if it leaked into my professional life I wouldn't be too bothered.

Woah so cool, thanks for making this list! Man, that means it's been 10 years of drarry drawing for me, holy cow :O so great to still see so many people creating stuff <3
