For today's rectober post, I've picked some of my favorite humorous Drarry fics. Because pub dates is my thing, these are all from 2013 and 2014 :)

favicon You First, Loser by [livejournal.com profile] zeitgeistic ( NC-17 | 6,400 ) 27-May-2014
Summary: When Harry and Draco’s “not serious” three-year relationship results in a one-in-a-million pregnancy, they decide who will be the unlucky one to tell their families in a very mature and adult fashion that indubitably proves their inherently stellar parenting abilities: with a bet over a (probably rigged, let’s be real; Draco is playing) game of Exploding Snap.
This is a story I have re-read again and again, and it's just as good if not better every single time! This is also probably definitely my favorite mpreg fic--I'm not always into mpreg but I love how zeitgeistic uses it as a vehicle to illustrate their characters and the actual depth of their relationship. And her sense of humor is fantastic. This bit of back-and-forth is just about the sharpest I've read in any fic--hilarious and dry but also perfectly revealing of character and things unsaid:

He turns back to the Healer then and says, “I’m really disappointed here, Healer Gaelan. I told Potter if he wanted an heir he had to carry it himself and now you’re telling me that, yet again, he gets something for free just because he’s a lucky son of a witch.”
Harry nods to confirm this when Healer Gaelan looks uncomfortably in his direction. “I used to fight against it, but now I just accept it.” He scoots his chair closer to the bed, and takes up Draco’s hand, interlacing their fingers. “Thanks for the freebie, babe.”

favicon In the Company of a Rubber Duck by [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore ( NC-17 | 35,000 ) 26-Dec-2013
Summary: In compliance with the terms of his probation, Draco must spend an hour a day as something mundane in someone's home. One day he finds himself a rubber duck in Harry's bath.
Oh my god, it's been a while since I laughed this hard while reading. birdsofshore's ear for wit is astonishing. As soon as I read:

"By the taps. Next to this rather repulsive-looking bottle of Madame Whifflin's Patented Hair Tamer. Did you keep a receipt for that, by the way, Potter? Because it's really not working."

I was absolutely hooked, and then the story became not just funny, but touching and romantic and meaningful as well. And as if that weren't enough, it was also HOT. Everyone felt just perfectly in character (especially Draco), even if they were in the form of a rubber duck or a toothbrush or what have you.
Brilliant, really really brilliant. If you haven't read this one yet, what's keeping you?

favicon Draco Malfoy: Toilet Supremo by [livejournal.com profile] who_la_hoop ( PG-13 | 26,000 ) 28-Sep-2014
Summary: It must be a vision brought on by eating cheese sarnies too close to bedtime, Harry thinks. There's no way that Draco Malfoy can really be standing on his doorstep, calling himself a Toilet Supremo, and expecting Harry to buy not only this unlikeliest of scenarios, but also a new loo.
But no: Harry's eyes do not deceive him. Malfoy, Lord of Toilets, is really there. Which begs a very important question: what the hell is he up to, and what evil scheme is he about to unleash? Because there must be an evil scheme . . . mustn't there?

This was sweet and HILARIOUS. Really, the first half of the story had me busting a gut every other line. And yet glimpses of Draco's real feelings kept shining through ever more as the story continued, and the ending was quite nice.

favicon How Auror Potter Finally Solved the Most Important Mystery of His Career by [livejournal.com profile] fantasyfiend09 ( NC-17 | 10,000 ) 16-Apr-2013
Summary: Harry is NOT in a romantic relationship with Draco; no matter what everyone else seems to believe.
Sweet and hot. Harry is almost ridiculously clueless, but it's well-written and funny and oh-so-cute.

favicon Heroes of Cosplay by [livejournal.com profile] youcantseeus ( PG-13 | 8,700 ) 13-Mar-2014
Summary: Albus and Scorpius are obsessed with cosplay, Draco loves trashy romance novels, and Harry is still trying to figure out his sexuality.
This was hilarious. And very well written. The focus is on Albus and Scorpius' platonic friendship almost as much as it is on Harry and Draco, but really, this was just so, so funny and sharp.

"But snowgall," I hear you saying, "What about The Four Ds of Apparition (or: Destination, Determination, Deliberation, and Dicks) by [livejournal.com profile] eidheann_writes and [livejournal.com profile] firethesound? Isn't that hilarious too?"
YES IT IS. But (a) it's from 2015 and (b) I just recced it two months ago. Haven't you been paying attention? :D

Oh, thank you for including my fic! It's very flattering to be here with some of my own favourite funny fics. I wonder do you like[livejournal.com profile] mahaliem? She's a goddess of humour to me, and mixes hotness and romance in there too beautifully.

I've been loving your themed recs - even though I have not had time to comment, sorry! A really inspired idea and very interesting to see what you chose each time.

Oh man, You First and Toilet Supremo of two of my fave comedy fics ever! Just reading their titles here caused laughter... I seem to be the only person on the internet who somehow hasn't read Rubber Duck yet, so that's on the list now--thanks for that!

Having one of my stories listed among these gems is a huge compliment! Thank you so much. *hugs* Of course now I want to hole up in a corner and read (and re-read) these fics when I'm supposed to be doing chores or writing.
