Ultimate Fandom Trope Showdown Meme

Inspired by vaysh's recent post.

Took the Ultimate Fanfic Trope Showdown quiz with these results. I did have to use the "I like both" or "No opinion" options, in a few cases, unfortunately. Have no idea what "loyalty!kink" is, and wish there had been a Veela option along with werewolves/vampires. Not sure why royalty needs to be part of "arranged marriages". What about "marriage law" trope fics?

I *really* don't like incest/selfcest, but I knew that already :) Also not so fond of non-magical AUs and kid!fic. The rest is all fine with me.

Yeah, I wasn't super sure what loyalty kink was either.

I didn't even know selfcest was a trope and it's my least favorite too. and when it comes to incest it all depends on the fic, the author, and the pairing.

Yeah, I had to google a few of them too and was forced to use 'No Opinion' for incest/selfcest.

Thanks! Sounds like loyalty!kink is a variation of boss/underling or something like that. I don't mind it, but it wouldn't be in my top five :)

Having multiple OTPs this was an interesting quiz to take. I think it would have been easier in some ways with only one pairing in mind.

Loyalty kink confused me at first but then I realized that Merlin/Arthur is a great example of it!

And I agree about Royalty and forced marriage being the same... that was odd

Not sure that royalty needs to be combined with arranged marriages, as you say, but maybe royalty is an example of not being able to pick your spouse freely when political alliances need to be made - see any number of Shakespeare history plays.

True. That's the thing about generalized trope lists - they don't always fit HP (or HD) so well. I mean, we often hear of purebloods having arranged marriages in the background of an HD fic - like Draco having to marry Astoria or something - but that doesn't mean it's a trope that gets the two boys together. It's more incidental to the plot. Usually :)
